Richard and I had a day off together, since his back became quite bad again. We spent it looking for a table for the balcony - and we found it...a little wooden table, that is perfect for my coffee and three books, or two table settings including wineglasses. We bought it for 8€ in this funny shop called "Estafette", that only did it in second hand furniture and a little clothing. I wondered around between the shelves, that were sorted in different themes: The shelf of egg cups The shelf of borrel glasses (small liquor-glasses for f.ex. Jenever) The shelf of TV dinner plates (that was surreal) The half shelf of Maggi taste enhancer bottles aso. We got three letterholders, a mapholder for my bike, three glass bowles for dips, a bread basket, and the table - 11€! Amazing! ---- We went on from there to a new video-shop Richard showed me last week. It's cool - all kinds of old classics and bad TV-series...and of course the new hits. The COOLEST thing is the section with art cinema sorted after director...I saw several Danish directors, and most Terry Gilliams has already been past our VCR (last week we rented Greenaway "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover" and Gilliams "Jabberwocky" - this week we got Gilliams "Brazil" - my all time favorite movie - "Time Bandits", and Atom Egoyans "Felicia's Journey"). So this means I've got my very first dutch membership card!!! I'm sssoooo happy! I noticed one odd thing in the video store - it's actually a phenomenon I study whenever I visit a moviestore that has the adult section placed on the top shelf through the entire shop: why the heck do the try to make ud recollect some 'normal' blockbuster movie by making a title, that resembles it?! I simply don't understand why they title the movies as in these examples (collected today): "Analdeus Mozart", "The Sergent, The D.I., and His Lover", "When Harriet met Sally"...?! OK, I will stop here, before I have to X-rate my site, but maybe it's worth a study? I mean, I'm already studying video games, and most people think THAT is a waste of time, so why no study "The Titleing of Porn Movies"?! ---- I just found out from a site exactly how long there is from Leeuwarden to Copenhagen: 690 km (I'm glad Copenhagen for once is considered a "major city" - I'm normally perceived more as a Scandinavian than as a Dane) *** - | posted by Tommy on 1:24 AM ---ooo--- |
