I'm confused! I'm playing a "new" game called Castle of the Winds from 1993, which all sources call a RPG (Role-Playing Game). It's very alike the Heroes of Might and Magic games

Since I'm never played any of the traditional tabletop RPG, I'm not familiar with the traditional use of the term role-playing (though I see it as following the theatrical term). One thing is for sure: this game does not open up for ANY forms of role-playing. I suspect that the definition of RPG is changing. It's true that I play a role, but I can't really develop my character beyond the point of move and fight, and that's not really a RPG where I can immerse myself into some role, is it?
Beside that it's a FUN game! :-)
