OK, back to blogging after quite some days... I've discovered that I miss my blog after a few days without noting anything - does this means that I now have integrated my little corner of the internet fully into my life? ---- Richard had his birthday last week - I will not mention his age here (hehehe), but only note that he loved my gift: a cookbook with chocolate as the main theme. He promised to make me a few things from it. I love being spoiled, so I look forward to...yummy! In the evening we had some of his friends over for cake (Valentine chocolate-cake from the cookbook - hehehe) It turns out that Richard isn't the only person into chocolate indulgence (I actually have to hide the chocolate at home, if I wanna make sure I have what I need for cooking) - try searching Amazon.com for chocolate. 1405 hits including "The Boy With Chocolate Mumps", "Chocolate 2004 Calendar" (not yet publishes, so take it easy!), and the slightly depressive title: "Cal 96 Death by Chocolate". ---- Saturday was big birthday-day with the major part of Richards friends. He had decided to make it into a chinese dinner, so friday and saturday I rolled, mixed, pinched, brased, grinded food items into won tons, springrolls, oriental pate aso. Deep-frying took a few hours, and I smelled and felt like a snackbar after closing hours (I'll NEVER make chinese deep-fried dinner again....EVER!) I had flat feet and a huge pimple in my forehead (you can call me unicorn!) when the guests left around midnight. In dutch, the guests enter your house and sit in a huge circle in the living room. I tried to make them sit in smaller groups, so I could get around with trays and stuff, but no way....in a circle they stayed! That's something I'm not used to. But they liked the food and the whole arrangement. And most of them loked the new look of the living room! :-) ---- It was memorial day May the 4th with speeches and very formal arrangement downtown in Prinsentuin (Prince's garden). in Denmark we put candles in our windows to signal our attendance to WWII, but R thought it would be a bit too much here. I was awed. May 5th was liberation day with parades in Amsterdam for a (german) prince Bernhard (husband of the Queen Mother....must be the Queen Father I guess) I've never been much into all that WWII thing, but only put my candles in the window and used the day for reflection over the very concept of "war" instead of WWII in particular. Richard and I talked about what we would do, if the world as we knew it suddenly would be in war... ---- Yesterday I got a mail from school saying that the new University Law has been signed, and thereby changing my school from existing on the base of a business school to making it the 12th university in Denmark. I think that's cool! Well done! ---- Richard and I have found a common interest which we do all the time these days: Whenever someone looses, the game comes up with one of several possible insults, so I'm walking around saying "You're a stupid man's idiot". I just need to translate it, and I can use it in trafic, since it seems "dutchmen on bikes" equals "deathwish"! *** - | posted by Tommy on 9:26 PM ---ooo--- |
