Hooray for Dortmunder Actien-Brauerei (DAB) It's time for melt-down...the temp. outside is rising more than before. I mean, I have been able to sit outside the other warm days, but today it's impossible - the sun burns my delicate scandinavian (pink-pale) skin to blisters in the time it takes for me to hang the laundry. I'm sitting inside, unable to work, with a beer and thinking if black plastic bags gives enough protection against the sun... ---- I play SOG I'm thinking if MMORPG (Massive Multi-user Online RolePlaying Game) are such a good name after all...the original genres are so mixed today, that it's hard to talk about EverQuest being a Roleplaying game. What about Unreal Tournament - why isn't that game categorized as a MMOFPSG (Massive Multi-user Online First Person Shooter Game). Maybe I should argue for re-defining the term into Social Online Games - SOG! And it stands in contrast to the wide variety of online games that are NOT social - ex. shockwave-games where the majority are non-social (except of course for the Multiplayer games) New binary pairs could be: Offline - Online (gives a problem with transmediated games like Majestic etc.) Social - Non-social ...and hereafter devide them into further genres. ---- Breaking News Headline: The Dumbo Bar is the best candy for Children! I've noticed the rising numbers of commercials that uses the same trick that gave ARG (Alternate Reality Game) their name, and defines the genre. I see plenty of commercial on dutch TV using the setting and mode of a news program, saying f.ex. "New research has shown that this or that insurance company have the highest cost-benefit for the consumer". Is it on the border of what should be allowed or is it simply a Sign O' The Times? *** - | posted by Tommy on 5:03 PM ---ooo--- |
