COOL! Richard is sending me tons of screenshots from EverQuest that I need in my thesis - I can't wait to get to see them. It's going to take all day, since it's around 70 Mb transferred through Messenger. I might ask him to FTP it to me instead.

UNCOOL! I got a book from US Amazon this morning - it costed me an additionally 50% for taxes and handling. Damn it! This thesis is gonna get more expensive than I thought! I learned that I from now on ONLY buy books from UK Amazon.

Who ever heard of Earcons? I didn't, but I saw some things at GIST - Glasgow Interactive Systems Group. Earcons are "abstract, musical tones that can be used in structured combinations to create auditory messages. Blattner defines earcons as "non-verbal audio messages that are used in the computer/user interface to provide information to the user about some computer object, operation or interaction". They are based on musical sounds."
There are several people here at the ITU that writes about navigation through sound. I remember my early project on the need for new we sites analyzis tools that also include movement and sound. And that's two years ago :)
